Banham Academy

As a family business, passing expertise down through the generations is second nature. So much so that in 2016, we founded the Banham Academy, dedicated to training the next generation of fire and security engineers. At first, it was intended to nurture talent within our own company, so that our team members were given the tools to progress their careers with Banham. But in doing so, we became the first in the sector to be approved by the IET to offer specialised Level 3 apprenticeships, making us the best-in-class destination for young British talent. Ten years on, and with more than 80 companies trusting us to train their teams in a growing industry, the Banham Academy is the benchmark.

Set alongside the River Wandle in Earlsfield, the academy sits within our 50,000 square foot, state of the art headquarters. Designed with sustainability in mind by the prestigious architecture firm Allies and Morrison, whose work can be seen at the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, the Tate Britain and the Royal Festival Hall, Banham’s HQ won the London Award for architectural excellence from the Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA) in 2016.

Within those award-winning walls we offer a 36 month, level three apprenticeship scheme in fire emergency and security systems. Combining on-the-job training with skills honed in the classroom, apprentices learn the design, installation, and maintenance of electronic systems that protect homes and businesses. The scheme is approved by the IET (Institution of Engineering and Technology), and our graduates leave with ECS certification. And with a legacy of British engineering in mind, we’ve expanded to welcome apprentices at our Banham Academies in Essex and Derby.

After 100 years of innovation, we’re proud to be expanding our legacy, and celebrating 10 years of championing young talent at the Banham Academy.
